Potential first-round playoff sites set for Ryan

Ryan doesn’t know who it will be playing yet in the first round of the Class 5A Division II playoffs, but it knows where.

Ryan will play the winner of Hurst Bell and Colleyville Heritage in the bi-district round of the postseason. The scenarios are:

Ryan vs. Hurst Bell at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex, Fri., Nov. 15, Time to be determined

Ryan vs. Colleyville Heritage at Mustang-Panther Stadium, Fri., Nov. 15, Time to be determined.

All three teams flipped for the potential sites. Last year all the bi-district games between District 5-5A and District 6-5A were played at AT&T Stadium, but Texas Tech and Baylor are playing there on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Ryan has only played two playoff games at C.H. Collins. Ryan lost to Guyer in the 2009 Class 4A Region I final. The Raiders defeated Wichita Falls Rider in the 2010 4A Region I final.

If Ryan wins against Bell or Heritage, the Raiders will play in a quadruple-header on Nov. 23 at AT&T Stadium.

Four games to watch in Week 10

It’s still hard to fathom that this week is the final week of the regular season.

For everybody that isn’t a Ryan fan, your team has played nine games this season, with one more remaining on the regular season slate. Site, opponent for Ryan’s first round playoff game to be decided this week

Flower Mound’s upset of Flower Mound Marcus last week gave Ryan its 14th straight playoff berth.

Now, all that’s left to be decided is who and where the Raiders will open the postseason.

The Raiders will play the winner of Friday’s game between Colleyville Heritage and Hurst Bell. Both teams are 5-1 in District 6-5A play, with their only respective losses coming against Euless Trinity.

Denton ISD athletic director Ken Purcell said a coin flip this week will determine the site for both potential outcomes.

Ryan will play its 5A Division II bi-district game at either C.H. Collins Athletic Complex, Pennington Field (Bell) or Mustang-Panther Stadium (Heritage). If Ryan wins the coin flips, the Raiders will play a playoff game at home for the first time since 2010.

Ryan is locked into the 5A Division II bracket as the bottom seed from District 5-5A. Hebron’s win over the Raiders gives the Hawks the top seed in the DII bracket.

If Ryan wins against either Bell or Heritage, Ryan will play its area playoff game at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. A potential time for the game will also be determined this week, Purcell said.
