AP state poll, Week 9

There weren’t any changes for Ryan and Argyle in The Associated Press’ state poll this week. The Raiders remain No. 4 in Class 5A while Argyle is still sitting at No. 2 in Class 4A. Denton added one more vote to its ledger in the 5A “others receiving votes” list.

AP State Poll: Argyle ranked No.1 in 3A

After Gilmer’s upset loss to Kilgore last week, Argyle moved up one spot to No. 1 in the Associated Press Class 3A state poll. The Eagles received 14 first-place votes.

Guyer, the defending Class 4A Division I state champions, remain ranked at No. 7 in the Class 4A polls.

AP state football polls: Argyle enters top 10, Guyer holds steady

After opening the season with a loss against Abilene Wylie, Argyle jumps back up into the Associated Press Class 3A state rankings, taking the No.10 spot this week. The Eagles are coming off a  42-6 win romp against Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins.

Guyer holds steady at No.14, meaning the voters weren’t impressed with Guyer’s blowout of Azle. Go figure.

In other interesting news, Coppell, Ryan’s District 5-5A opponent, shocked Allen last week and is ranked fifth by the AP in Class 5A. Frisco Centennial, the only team to beat Lake Dallas this season, entered the Class 4A polls at No.10 this week.

And yes, somebody is still voting Wichita Falls Rider as the best team in 4A. I still don’t see it, but then again, what do I know?

AP state football polls: Guyer moves down, Argyle moves up, Lake Dallas out

In this week’s Associated Press state polls, inactivity hurt two of the area teams.

Guyer moves down one spot in the Class 4A poll to No. 14 after a bye week. Lake Dallas,  was No.18 last week but didn’t play last week. The voters rewarded the Falcons’ rest by dropping them from the rankings.

Argyle rolled over Kennedale in a blowout/snooze-fest, and the Eagles moved up and are tied for No.12 in the Class 3A polls.

Coppell, the last undefeated team in District 5-5A, is ranked No.9 in 5A. Guyer’s 5-4A foe, Wichita Falls Rider, made a big jump to No.6 and even received a highly unwarranted first-place vote.
