0The Ryan Raiders are headed back to Class 5A and the Guyer Wildcats are moving back into Class 4A after the UIL announced its district realignments Thursday morning.
Ryan will be competing in District 5-5A with Coppell, Lewisville, Lewisville Hebron, Flower Mound and Flower Mound Marcus.
Guyer returns to Class 4A and will join Denton, Lake Dallas, Wichita Falls, Wichita Falls Rider, Byron Nelson and Fort Worth Brewer and Azle in District 5-4A.

Guyer should roll through that district. Only Lake Dallas can potentially give them a game.

Everyone knows they did whatever they could to get kids out of Guyer to get them down to 4A.
There are about 150 kids that got moved to Ryan or DHS back in October, go find them and ask them what happened.
I don't understand why there are conspiracy theorists when this stuff is announced. As a former Ryan parent, and now a Guyer parent I've been a Ryan fan when the Raiders went from 4A to 5A and then back to 4A. Lately I've been around Guyer going from 4A to 5A and back to 4A. It happens. It's happened at both schools. Life goes on.
All I can say is good luck Ryan with your new district. Look at the bright side, coach Dela Torre is gone and maybe Edwards will leave to follow his son, you have two opening to recruit dad and son teams.

Are you a little bitter that Ryan won the recruiting war with Guyer?? They both went at Edwards hard and Ryan won. Hopefully there are some other good players around with dad's that need a job. Ryan is going to need all the help it can get. lol

According to the UIL website, Azle is in Guyer's new district as well.
I think it is ridiculous that Ryan and Guyer don't play each other.
I grew up in Richardson. Pearce HS and Richardson HS have played each other every year since Pearce had a varsity football team regardless of classification.
The same is true of Berkner and Lake Highlands.
The only reason the teams don't play each other is that one or both of the schools don't want to play the game.
I am not sure how great you can say your team is if your not even sure if you are the best team in the city.
I am a big fan of one of the schools, but this falls at the feet of both coaches and the AD for DISD.
Walsh has asked to play every year! But has fallen on deaf ears!
You need to ask Joey why he refuses to play Guyer. Walsh would play him on Calhouns practice field if Joey would come out of hiding.
Guyer is not scared to play bigger schools, just look at non district schedule, but old Joey on the hand is. He even said it in the paper. But he will play Monterrey Tech who gets pounded by most Texas teams, give me a break.

"everyone knows"?? WHO knows? Call Saul Garza and tell him what's bugging you. Call the UIL and file a complaint. I don't understand the hatred in this town for Guyer. Is it jealousy? It' was all fine until Guyer got stronger and beat Ryan. Then GHS is labled a bunch of liars & cheaters. I think both schools have great sports programs and lots of scholarships have come from both.
Any kids that "got moved to Ryan or Denton High" this year from Guyer were moved because they were living in a house that was ZONED for Ryan or Denton High, or were NOT living at the address they provided to be in Guyer's zone. We should be applauding the administration at Guyer for actually following rules.
NO, they were moved so that Guyers attendance numbers would be lowered. Should've stayed where they were. That way we could've got the RHS vs. GHS rivalry back. But no, big bad Walsh wanted to do things dirty, again!
Also, check out where those kids who were moved (150-200) are in school right now. You guessed it, right back at Guyer. Most of them were moved to Denton because of their low attendance and Flo was smart enough to put the clamps on it at Ryan. Don't get it twisted,not a homer for Ryan but would like to see things done right for once. I am an ALL DENTON sports fan. Anything to see all 3 teams in the same district again, but not likely for a while.
I think that when denton builds another high school soon to come there will be noooo good programs in the area and both coaches will leave and denton will never have a school to win state again
Itsme gets the village idiot of the year award. Walsh has tried every year to keep the Ryan game going but Joey refuses to play Guyer. Doubt that to be true, go back to 2 years ago in DRC, Walsh said he wanted to play, Joey said no.
And moving kids and what not, if you have proof then show it, otherwise go cry with Panama about how unfair the world is in Denton.
the kids that got moved did so because they lied about where they lived instead of going through the proper transfer process. Some have since come back after going through the proper process, some have been denied and have to go to the school they were zoned for. Im glad the administration takes this serious. We bought our house when it was zoned Guyer, then after rezoning we got moved to Denton. I had to go through the transfer process and my kids were allowed to go to Guyer. Just dont lie about living somewhere you dont and you wont get thrown out. Pretty simple, follow the rules.
The real problem is that the State and the UIL use different dates for attendance totals. This allows a school to dump kids to go down a class in the UIL and get those kids back for funding from the state. If a school wants to cheat, fine, but take less money based on your lower attendance

Not a DHS, RHS, or GHS fan at all,get it straight. I am for all DENTON schools.Just wish things were done on an even playing field for all 3 schools. I just happen to know that Walsh is more talk than bite when it comes to a game with RHS. If he see's that he has an advantage, or even has a shot at winning like 2 yrs ago,he's game.If not then you know the rest. I agree with with you Bill, that we as in Dentonites, are about to really ruin HS athletics in Denton. Where have you been wb1195, a person who knows what is going on. It happens somewhere every year and its garbage.
