Boedeker's 5-4A Power Rankings

Adam Boedeker   E-mail   News tips

After two weeks of play and just two weeks from the beginning of district play, here's my first set of rankings. Feel free to read them if you want, since writers have no basis to set rankings. After all, I've just seen one Guyer game and two Lake Dallas games this year.

Anyway, here we go...
1. Wichita Falls Rider: We'll see for sure at the district opener when Rider hosts Ryan, but as of now, no one in this district is on the same level as "ROHO".
2. Ryan: The other Raiders' offense has been lights out so far this season. Now we're just waiting to see that defense ste up, and against a quality opponent. As of now, there's a big gap between here and the rest of the district.
3. Lake Dallas: The Falcons have played two quality teams, and two great offenses. We all know that opening loss wasn't pretty for defensive minds, but the Falcons' offense is right up there with Ryan's. They could very easily be 2-0 if not for some costly penalties.

4. The Colony: The Cougars' Division I running back has carried them to a 2-0 start, but they haven't played a high-quality opponent yet.
4. Guyer: There's a tie here, yes, and let me tell you why. The Wildcats pulled off an unspeakably huge win at Stephenville on Friday night, giving them a leg up on The Colony in the quality opponent department. However, let's see how they respond to that success this Friday at Saginaw, another pretty decent squad. If both the No. 4s win this week, I move Guyer into fourth.
6. Wichita Falls: The Coyotes lost a lot of skill players. They still have QB Ben Henderson but things aren't looking too good for Old High. They got slaughtered by Everman on Saturday, which is a great team but from what I gathered, Old High didn't put up much of a fight.
7. Denton: This is really a tough call, but I'm putting the Broncos in "not last" place because they nearly pulled off a win on Friday. It doesn't matter how bad Western Hills is, they still almost got the win. Hunter Dozier is showing some promise and he has a big-play receiver in Billy McCarty.
8. Little Elm: Wow, I knew the Lobos would take a long, hard fall this year, but I didn't expect to see what we saw on Friday -- a 5-touchdown blowout at the hands of Greenville. Little Elm is really missing Cole Beasley right now.

This Looks close Adam. I think that Guyer proved to be a team that is serious about building a winning program. That LD Guyer game may be the game of the year.

LMAO,

Ian, Guyer and The Colony ahead of Lake Dallas? You need to put down that crack pipe and come back to Earth with the rest of us.
The Falcons are going to beat both of them, HANDILY...

Guyer has made progress, but their offense according to the stats isnt that good yet. Stephenville will be 0-3 after this weeks game,
and Newman Smith is a door mat. Guyer has a good running game so far but when they play against a good defense they'll be in trouble. Guyer is improved but #3 in this district, thats a big big reach.
