Argyle's Parks named Baylor starter Ryan opener could foreshadow season Categories

I just spoke with a football coach who has a good knowledge of the old 5-4A teams and also Lake Dallas. I won't reveal his name here, but if you do just a little research you could easily figure out who it was. Anyway, here's what I gathered from our conversation. Wichita Falls is not good this year. Quarterback Ben Henderson is struggling and while he admitted it's still early, he's not impressed. On the flip side, he said Lake Dallas could be better than last season despite losing a ton of seniors. If he's right, I'll admit, I was wrong about the Falcons. They lost so much last season including perhaps the best playmaker in the area last year, Alvin Blackmon. Rider is far and away the best team in the district and will be a serious state title contender, and Ryan is the clear-cut No. 2, but a good distance behind Rider, as we all kinda knew. As for Guyer, they will improve this year. In fact, the Wildcats should've won more games than they did last season but turnovers severely hampered their chances. Again, these aren't my words, but I tend to agree with a lot of it. Although the Old High comments really surprise me. They've been pretty much a consensus pick as the third team in the district. My picks will come soon, if that's OK with our friend, Tom. |

As hard as it is to admit, I expect Ryan will give Rider all they can handle and have a nice playoff run, they will be much better than I expected.
WF has serious depth issues, and injuries and they are in toruble. LD will be good, I am counting on it as Franklin is a stud.
Guyer has to get JW and Otto healthy before district to compete.

Hey Catdad I couldn't think of anything better than all three Denton Schools making the playoffs. With of course Ryan winning District.

Ryan has a a great shot at the district title, taking down the so called mighty "Rider" would be fantastic. LD will be better than most think, Franklin has a rifle arm and has worked hard this offseason and summer to perfect his skills and they have depth at all positions. Guyer will surprise some people also this year they have alot of talent. good luck to all in our area

Bobby, way off base. My kid is a Sr. on D line, not O. Perhaps you should re think your stupid comments before you make them.

I think Ryan will beat Rider with Jr QB and the runing of Jay Catlin whith the arm of the QB Ryan run deep into the playoffs

The O-Line for Lake Dallas is in question right now. Without a line, even Franklin will have a hard time. Also, the DBs are a little weak so the Defensive front will have to put presure on the QBs or they will eat them up.
