5-4A Predictions: Andrews Edition Argyle's Parks named Baylor starter Ryan opener could foreshadow season Categories

According to the DR-C High School Blog's good friend Tom, making a predication, even when it's, like, your job, is to make an [expletive] of yourself. Rather than dissect why that may be the most ridiculous statement ever uttered on this blog, I'll just succumb: I am an [expletive] for doing my job. Here are my predictions for 2008 in 5-4A, 100 percent guaranteed more accurate than Boedeker's: 1. Wichita Falls Rider - The distance between Rider and Ryan isn't as big as last year's score suggests, but with most of its high-octane offense back, there isn't much justification for putting Ryan ahead - yet. 2. Ryan - With a lighter nondistrict schedule and an offense that may be as explosive as they've ever had, the Raiders will soar past the 6-5 mark they put up in 2007, and I'll go ahead and say this team will make it out of the first round. 3. Lake Dallas - Naysayers naysay about 9-4A not being the toughest district, and that's hurt perception of the Falcons as they enter 5-4A. I, for one, think Lake Dallas will transition into the district nicely. 4. Wichita Falls - We've talked a lot about the Coyotes maybe not being what they're expected to be this year, but the team still has a solid returning starter at quarterback in Ben Henderson and a quality wide out in Antwone Moore. 5. The Colony - This team is good enough to make the playoffs with Tusla commit Tony Peoples and quarterback Bryce Perkins, but a crowded 5-4A, even with four playoff spots, may count it out. 6. Guyer - The Wildcats will undoubtedly take a huge step forward in 2008, but it will likely take John Walsh another year to turn Guyer into a serious playoff threat. That said, don't be surprised if he does it this year. 7. Little Elm - The Lobos were a one-man show in 2008, and that man has moved on. Cole Beasley is at SMU and Little Elm will need to rebuild before it can get into the playoff hunt in this district. 8. Denton - I think we all know what's happening on Fulton. The athletic department has been fleeced, whether it was necessary or not, by Denton ISD. As one Denton High coach put it to me (no, not a football coach), "They didn't just kill us here at Denton High, they murdered us." And as a former Ryan coach put it to me "Vince Lombardi couldn't coach that team into the playoffs." |

Jeff,
I am dissapointed that it took you this long to fire back, but it brought a smile to my face! Thanks for the quick "pick-me-up".

Your close on the predications 4-5-6 will could be toss up. Rider is one injury away (qb)from a average year and opening the door for Ryan. LD will be competive just like the last couple of years, maybe not Rider/Ryan style but competive. Guyer should break out and win some games this year, they have the want to for sure. The Colony looks good on paper, as does Ole High... good job on your picks

I like your picks and I feel for the boys at DHS. I hope that things change for them. Good luck Lake Dallas. They may not win it all, but they will be well prepared by Young and his staff.
