Argyle, Denton, Ryan all hold steady in AP poll

Another week, another set of rankings in the newest Associated Press Texas high school football state poll, and several area teams stayed steady in the rankings in their respective classifications.

In Class 5A, Ryan stayed put at No. 3, well behind Cedar Park and Aledo and just ahead of No. 4 Manvel. It’s hard to imagine that order changing at all as long as both teams keep winning, and it really doesn’t matter. The Denton Broncos moved up one spot in the poll from No. 8 to No. 7. Ryan’s matchup this weekend is a biggie, as Frisco Lone Star moved up a spot to No. 5.

In Class 4A, which for whatever reason isn’t broken up into Division I and Division II, still has Argyle solidly at No. 2 behind West Orange-Stark, which is a Division II school meaning the Eagles are the top team among Division I schools. The Eagles’ matchup this weekend against Abilene Wylie will be a top-10 game as Wylie is No. 9 in the poll.
