It’s one thing to be friends with your rival. But when the two gentlemen in question are the respective quarterbacks at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, it’s a different ballgame.
Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Trevor Knight was one of six Sooner representatives at Big 12 Media Days in Dallas, a few days after he hung out with former Guyer standout and current Oklahoma State junior quarterback J.W. Walsh.
The two teams have months to go before they square off in a rivalry simply known as “Bedlam,” but the two quarterbacks spent some time speaking at a church in Yukon, Oklahoma, earlier this week.
Knight said it was cool seeing Sooner fans and Cowboy fans coming together because of their faith, and he enjoyed spending time with J.W., the son of Guyer head football coach John Walsh.
“We’re good buddies,” Knight said on Tuesday. “We’re both from Texas [Knight graduated from San Antonio Reagan], so we know how that is. Obviously on the field we’re competitors and we both want to win.
“Our mutual friend, Austin [Oklahoma State sophomore wide receiver Austin Hays], he’s told J.W. that I’m the hardest worker he’s ever seen, and then he tells me J.W. is the hardest worker he’s ever seen, so we go at it like that. He’s a great player, great guy to be around.”
