Thompson has already fielded a slew of 18 offers from places like Colorado, Houston and North Texas (you can see the full list here). Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day members of the Class of 2015 can sign their national letters of intent is Feb. 4, 2015.
Last season, Thompson compiled 44 tackles for loss, eight sacks, 11 pass deflections, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
Thompson told the Record-Chronicle’s Adam Boedeker that his trip to Lawrence, Kansas, today helped him with the decision.
“I had decided before [Thursday's visit] but then when I saw everything, it just felt right,” Thompson said. “I liked the facilities and I talked to academic advisors and they feel like they can help me a lot to get good grades and also focus on football.”
Boedeker will have more in tomorrow’s edition of the Record-Chronicle.
