The latest weekly installment of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches rankings was released today and two of the area’s top teams retained their lofty rankings.

On the boys’ side of things, Ponder (21-7, 7-1) checked in at No. 4 in the Class 2A rankings after the Lions knocked off Brock in a colossal District 9-2A matchup last Tuesday.

Based on the TABC rankings, Ponder’s district is arguably the toughest in all of 2A. Brock (21-7, 6-2) is ranked fifth, while Peaster is ranked sixth.

Ponder leads Peaster (17-6, 6-1) by one game in the district standings, while Brock is 1 1/2 games back of the lions.

The Argyle Lady Eagles held steady at No. 2 in Class 3A’s girls rankings. Argyle (27-1, 5-0) has rolled all season and its only loss is to Round Rock Cedar Ridge, the No. 19 team in Class 5A. Argyle still trails undefeated Waco La Vega.

The Lady Eagles will end the season with a big road contest against third-ranked Celina on Feb. 4.

In the TABC’s girls large private school rankings, Liberty Christian checks in at No. 6.

You can find the complete rankings at the TABC’s website.
