Spitballin’ time: Let’s look at possible districts

With the UIL’s announcement today of the cutoff numbers for their new classification setup, which includes a new Class 6A and breaking up 4A-1A (current 3A-Six Man) into two divisions for the entire season, let’s take a look at some possible districts for some of our schools.

First off, there’s the biggest one to speculate involving Guyer and Ryan, which will once again be district bunk mates after a four-year hiatus in the new Class 6A.

There are two general schools of thought with the Guyer-Ryan district.

A) Guyer, Ryan, Flower Mound, Flower Mound Marcus, Hebron, Lewisville, Coppell, Southlake Carroll

B) Guyer, Ryan, Keller, Keller Fossil Ridge, Keller Central, Keller Timber Creek, Justin Northwest, Trophy Club Nelson

These make perfect geographic sense, but “B” might make a little more sense. It would also be the preferable route for Guyer and Ryan and would be a softer district in all sports, but especially everything that isn’t football. The “A” choice is a bear of a district in every sport, specifically the non-football sports.

Follow the jump for some possibilities for the Dentons and Lake Dallases of the world.

You’d have to think Denton and Lake Dallas will be in a 5A district together, but it’s not completely set in stone. Before Lake Dallas joined the DISD district in 2008, they were in with the Little Elms and The Colonys, and so on.

Anyway, for spitballin’ sake, let’s assume Denton and Lake Dallas go together. Here’s what we’re looking at.

A) Denton, Lake Dallas, Little Elm, The Colony, Wichita Falls, Wichita Falls Rider, Grapevine

B) Denton, Lake Dallas, Saginaw, Saginaw Boswell, Saginaw Chisholm Trail, Birdville, Little Elm, The Colony

C) Denton, Lake Dallas, Little Elm, The Colony, McKinney, McKinney North, Sherman, Denison

D) Denton, Lake Dallas, Little Elm, The Colony, Wichita Falls, Wichita Falls Rider, Sherman, Denison

E) Denton, Lake Dallas, Frisco, Frisco Wakeland, Frisco Centennial, Frisco Heritage, Frisco Liberty, Frisco Lone Star

This is completely up in the air and there are way too many scenarios. The Wichita Falls folks seem to be concerned they might be heading out west to the likes of Amarillo schools. It’d make sense for them to be with Sherman and Denison, but who knows. They’ll probably go with the Frisco schools.

It’s anyone’s guess how this turns out, but you’d have to think Denton and Lake Dallas will remain in the same district.

Have at it folks, your guess is as good as mine.
