Ryan senior defensive tackle J.T. Williams reported his fourth Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offer today.
Louisiana Tech threw its name among the list of schools recruiting Williams. He’s already received offers from Missouri, Houston and North Texas. Houston Baptist, which will join the FCS’ Southland Conference in 2014, also offered Williams and fellow Ryan defensive lineman Sekou Clark.
Williams said he talked to Louisiana Tech defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Stan Eggen today on the phone regarding his offer. Two current Ryan assistant coaches – offensive coordinator Conroy Hines and running backs coach Shelton Gandy – were both former assistants at Louisiana Tech.
The Bulldogs visited Williams’ home last week, he said.
Former Ryan star quarterback and PARADE All-American Scotty Young played a few games for the Bulldogs this season. Former Ryan linebacker Ty Hook is also at Louisiana Tech.
Williams’ brother, Jordan, is currently an offensive lineman at Missouri.
Last season, J.T. Williams finished with 67 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks and two forced fumbles.
He said he’s going to wait to make a decision until he starts making his official visits, something he hasn’t done yet.
Right now, he said Missouri is the only school he’s certainly going to visit. He mentioned visiting every other school except UNT. According to our UNT beat writer Brett Vito, the Mean Green only have about one or two openings left in its 2014 signing class.
