Halftime thoughts: Marcus 10, Ryan 0

If someone said before tonight’s game that a team was going to be winning 10-0 at halftime, most would have said Ryan was the team ahead.

Nope. That’s not the case.

Flower Mound Marcus has kept Ryan’s offense from scoring and lead 10-0 at halftime. The Marauders are playing with a starting quarterback that started the season on JV, their starting running back is sitting next to me with a concussion and Marcus has looked far better than Ryan right now.

Ryan has outgained Marcus 160 to 106, but the Marauders have done a good job of tightening things up when it counts.

On Ryan’s first drive of the game, Mitchell Bridges threw an interception in the end zone after a potential touchdown by Tyrone Williams was called back because of a holding penalty.

Marcus’ offense hasn’t looked great, but its defense has been stellar. They’ve sacked Bridges at least twice and dared the Raiders to throw the ball. Bridges has been good when he’s had time, but right now, Marcus has controlled the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense.

If Ryan doesn’t start playing like it has in the previous four games, Ryan head coach Joey Florence might have to wait another week for win No. 200.
