Argyle falls in State 7-on-7 Div. II final

You didn’t have to be in Leander to feel the excitement of the state 7-on-7 tournament today. All you had to do was get on Twitter and follow along as teams fought for midsummer glory.

Argyle fell just short of its first 7-on-7 title, falling to Graham 33-31 in the Div. II final of the championship bracket. This is how our buddy Matt Stepp over at The Old Coach saw the end of the game.

The overturned call negated what would have been a go-ahead touchdown by Ian Sadler, who by all accounts on Twitter, had a ridiculous day. At this point, Sadler’s skills shouldn’t shock as much as it should be expected. Texas Tech offered him for a reason.

Graham fell in the 3A Div. II semis to Gilmer in last year’s playoffs. Gilmer also eliminated Argyle in the regional quarterfinals. Gilmer lost to Graham in the quarterfinals of the 7-on-7 tournament.

Now, it’s tough to gauge anything from the 7-on-7 play, as it’s vastly different from what will be played in a few months. But today’s tournament was an indication that football season is around the corner, a time of the year the entire state is eagerly anticipating.
