Austin Aune has been busy over the past few weeks. You know, standard fare for your average high school graduate: report to college, get drafted by the New York Yankees, leave college, sign a $1 million contract and make your first professional baseball start.
That’s exactly what Aune did on Tuesday for the Gulf Coast Yankees in the Gulf Coast League in Florida. Aune started against the Gulf Coast Tigers for his first professional start and he came up big, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single and scored a run in a 10-3 Yankees win. Aune got the start at shortstop, where he also committed his first professional error. All in a day’s work, I suppose.
