Basketball playoffs continue tonight

After weeks of playing for positioning in the district standings for a chance to make the playoffs, boys basketball teams all over the state will attempt to make the narrow journey through the playoff brackets to hoist a state championship trophy.
Boys teams will begin the playoffs this week, joining the girls who are already a week into their journey.
The Ryan Raiders will look to make it back to at least regional quarterfinals, where the Raiders were bounced out of the tournament a year ago. In the Class 4A bi-district round, Ryan plays Canyon Randall at 5 p.m.today in Vernon. The winner will play either El Paso Riverside or El Paso Austin.
Krum received a first-round bye in the Class 2A playoffs, reaping the benefits of an undefeated District 9-2A title run. Ponder will play Peaster in the 2A bi-district round at 7 p.m. tonight in Bridgeport.
Argyle also earned a first-round bye in the Class 3A playoffs.
In TAAPS Class 5A, Liberty Christian squares off against San Antonio Antonian in the regional round on Saturday.
On the girls side, Krum remains the lone area team alive in the playoffs after losses by Liberty Christian and Denton Calvary on Saturday. Liberty Christian lost in overtime to San Antonio Incarnate Word 61-49, while Calvary fell to DeSoto Canterbury 56-42.
The Krum Lady Cats play Brock at 7 p.m.tonight at Justin Northwest.
