Random thoughts from Fuzzy’s

Last night after the games, Martinez, Muench and I hit up our favorite DRC High School blog sponsor, Fuzzy’s, and sat on the back patio chatting until about 2:30 a.m. because we’re beasts like that.

Just a few things that were brought up and discussed:

Will Ryan win a second battle with Guyer, should it happen? That win was no fluke, but I find it very hard for a team to beat another great team twice in one year, especially in a matter of four weeks. Time will tell. Let’s hope both teams take care of business this coming weekend.

Who’s the All-Area MVP/Offensive Player of the Year?
Scotty Young has his incredible numbers. J.W. Walsh and James Franklin have basically identical numbers as dual-threat monsters. I think Walsh and Franklin are more important to their respective teams as far as how much the team would suffer with an injury. But who really knows? And what about Jarman Johnson?!!?

Which area team has the best chance at a state title? The talent this year in our small area was really unprecedented and ridiculous. Eight football teams, six playoff teams — all of which had legitimate shots at state titles. Lake Dallas is done. Everyone else is still alive. My top-of-the-mind answer to my question: Argyle.

Whatever happened to “Bob”?
Hmmm….

What do you guys think?

  1. I think guyer is gonna come around the second game with a totally different approach. They will use the deep safties not used in game one which will give scotty a harder time. I also think they will blitz more and run the ball more than they did in the first game. But that still wont be enough for guyer. I think it will be a much closer game with ryan coming out on top. Ryans just playing to good right now and I dont think they can be stopped. The D has really stepped up this year.

  2. At this point, it doesn’t matter which team we think MAY come out on top in 2 weeks, If they Both don’t take care of business this week. With this being said, let’s not talk about what MIGHT BE and worry about what is upon us THIS WEEK.

  4. I don’t need your input RRDaD, I’m positive both us and guyer will take care of their business and meet each other in the regional final.

  5. That’s what we thought last year also T3. I agree with you that it looks enevitable, but if Guyer doesn’t play very well in Abilene, we will be done and Ryan will have to flip Cooper home and home.

  6. Boedeker, I’m still here. Now that I no longer have a son playing anymore, I have kept myself out of these “drama drivin” blogs. However, I still get a kick out of these emotional parents and your crazy predictions. Actually, I think you did pretty good this year.
Now that LD is out, I think Guyer and Ryan will both take care of business next week and meet for a rematch in 2. Guyer will avenge their meeting and loose the next week do to the emotional high from it.

  7. I do agree with you that abilene cooper could easily beat guyer if they have an off game. Ryan on the other hand is playing a school from El Paso, much easier.

  8. I think Guyer and Ryan will both take care of business this week and meet for a rematch in 2. Ryan needs to watch out for a trap this week, Chapin has a tailback Cori Sanchez. That is 5-foot-9, 175-pound tailback unique combination of speed, power, it added up to 267 yards on 36 carries, and all five Chapin touchdowns aginst Wolf. frenship. you know what they say about speed, it can kill. So Ryans D needs to be focus, for a victory.

  9. How about Aledo transfer from Ryan, sophomore Quarterback Matthew Bishop who was supposed to be the heir apparent to Scotty Young winning the big game? He has been doing great. I thought he was crazy for leaving Ryan, but looks like it’s working out for him. Way to go former Raider. Also to his dad Coach Lee Bishop.

  10. I don’t think you are the Bob they were talking about. Sorry to burst your bubble.

‘Ol Bob has been out of state on some very lucrative bidness. Bob see’s that while he was gone LD did not live up to their inflated self ego. So much for the LD mafia. Losing their QB hurts. Their sophomore receiver will be QB next year but he won’t have the supporting staff that Franklin did. They blew their real chance this year. Everman beat ‘em with experience. They got skins on the wall down in Everman.

Guyer vs Ryan v2.0 is looming as long as they both take care of bidness. ‘Ol Bob is a little worried about the mild kitties. Abilene Cooper is stout and I think Guyer is prone to bouts of overconfidence. Comes from the top don’t ya know.

So, ‘Ol Bobs been away for a few weeks but he’s back and has as many HSO’s as ever.

    Take Care. ‘Till next time.

    Everybody’s Friend,

    ‘Ol Bob

  11. Great Job

I think saying that Matt Bishop was the heir apparent to Scotty is a little mis-guided. Why do you think they left? It was always going to be Knight next year and then Bishop. Coach Lee wasn’t getting the love, so he took him and found a spot for him as a sophomore. If I had to guess, he’ll probably start at point guard and shortstop for the Bearcats also, which wouldn’t have been the case here. Coach Warnack didn’t even play him on varsity baseball last year and he would’ve been one of Warnack’s best hitters had he done it. They lost a good one.

    Good job Matt.

  12. WIN THIS WEEK & then focus on next week! This is Guyer’s philosophy & I like that. Cooper is going to be tough, but it can be done!

  13. 2 games into the playoff’s,
    Abilene Cooper’s has scored; 103 – 55
    Guyer Wildcat’s scored; 101 – 49
    Wildcats win’s by 1 score!!!

  14. Sorry Bystander but this one will be a nail bitter. Cooper has big time history with big time fan base. This will be a huge victory if Guyer wins. I believe if we can beat them in their own house we can beat anyone.

We can’t be cocky! We need to be all business with no mistakes and get the job done then come home. They will be dirty and out for blood. If Guyer keeps their cool we win.

  15. Maybe the homefield in this game is overrated.

#1 – Most of the Abilene football fans will be traveling this weekend because Abilene High and Wylie are playing also.

#2 – I’m sure Walsh made sure we weren’t having their referee chapter to the game. If they did, it would definitely be a homefield advantage, but I’m sure he took care of that.

#3 – Cooper will be home Friday night with school out. Hopefully all the Cooper party crowd, which I’m sure includes several key football players, will get all good and drunked up on Friday night and stay out late. Our guys will be safely tucked into their hotel rooms counting sheep.
